Terms of Service

1. Introduction

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully. They govern the Customer's use of the Ethiopian Electric Utility's ("EEU," "we," "us," or "our") websites, mobile applications, call center services, and all other digitally delivered services (collectively, the "Services").

By accessing or using the Services, the Customer or anyone authorized to access EEU platform agrees to be bound by these Terms. If a customer or anyone authorized to access EEU platform does not agree with any part of these Terms, they must discontinue use of the Services immediately.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By using any EEU Service, you acknowledge that:

• Customers must secure their login credentials
• Customers must keep phone number and email address up to date
• If minors use the Services, consent of guardian is required
• You have read and understood these Terms
• You agree to comply with these Terms and our Privacy Policy
• You consent to the collection and processing of your personal information as described in our Privacy Policy

If you access the Services on behalf of another person or entity, you represent and warrant that you are authorized to accept these Terms on their behalf.

3. Scope of Services

EEU provides the Services to enable convenient digital access to its utility functions, including but not limited to:

• Utility Operations: Electricity supply management, metering, billing, and payment processing
• Customer Support: Access to the Call Center (905), complaint management, and service-request handling
• Information Access: Viewing account status, consumption data, and billing information using your Contract Account Number
• Integrity Reporting: Mechanisms to report fraud, corruption, and unethical conduct

EEU may add new features or update existing functionality and notify the Customer at any time.

4. Customer Obligations and Conduct

Accuracy of Account Information

Customers must provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information when registering or interacting with the Services. Failure to do so may result in service delays or denial.

Prohibited Activities

Customers shall not:

• Use the Services for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to EEU systems, accounts, or data
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Services
• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information
• Use the Services to harass, abuse, or harm others

5. Intellectual Property

All content, trademarks, logos, and intellectual property displayed on the Services are the property of EEU or its licensors. Customers may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written consent from EEU.

6. Privacy and Data Protection

Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using the Services, you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• EEU shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Services
• EEU does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Services
• EEU is not responsible for any loss of data or unauthorized access resulting from your failure to maintain the security of your account credentials

8. Service Availability

EEU strives to maintain continuous availability of the Services but does not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Services may be temporarily unavailable due to:

• Scheduled maintenance
• System upgrades
• Technical issues beyond our control
• Force majeure events

9. Modifications to Terms

EEU reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting on our official website. Continued use of the Services after any modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Ethiopian courts.
